FAQ

SUNGLASSES

  • Not at all, all sunglasses must conform to the same requirements of the sunglasses standard BS EN ISO 12312-1, so the degree of UV protection is not related to price. Just look out for 100% UV protection or UV400 on the labelling to ensure your eyes are being protected!

  • Lighter lenses might not block as much light from your view but the lenses can still offer UV400 protection which means your eyes are still safe! All filter categories including clear lenses can offer protection from UV rays.

    • Do not push your sunglasses up into your hair or to the top of your head as this may stretch the arms or twist the frames.

    • Store in the case provided when not in use.

    • Avoid putting your sunglasses face down as this may scratch the delicate lenses.

    • Avoid leaving your glasses by the windscreen of a hot car – this can damage the lenses and distort the frames.

    • Clean with soft cloth but avoid paper tissues as these are too abrasive.

    • You can wash your sunglasses in warm water containing a mild detergent.

READY READERS

  • You can go to your opticians to get a reading glass prescription or do an in store reading test at various retailers.

    • Wearing non-prescription reading glasses that are too weak or too strong won’t damage your vision but can be uncomfortable, lead to tired eyes and cause nausea, headaches and dizziness. It is important to find the correct dioptre – this might not be the same in both eyes! If you continue to experience issues, then we recommend going to your opticians to get a customised reading glass prescription.

    • Please also remember reading glasses are only for reading, please do not wear them when walking, driving etc as they are not meant to be for looking at far distances.

OPTICAL

  • We recommend going to your opticians practice to get a full eye test to determine your exact prescription/requirements for optical glasses.

  • Yes, most branded optical glasses can be bought separately (including our brands Forever & a Day and Planet Pop) and sent off to be glazed to your specific prescription.

  • Yes, most branded optical frames also should allow sunglasses prescription lenses.

    • Only clean with water and a small amount of a mild detergent.

    • Never place your glasses down on the lenses as they will become scuffed and scratched over time.

    • Never push your glasses up into your hair to avoid stretching the frames and arms.

    • Never attempt to realign the frames or arms if they become stretched and loose. Always take them to your optician who will have the tools and knowledge to adjust them.
